Move a domain to Apply

The transfer adds twelve months to whatever time is left on the name. Nothing goes down while it happens: the DNS records stay exactly as they are until you decide to change them.

No account needed to check a name. Registration takes minutes once the invoice is paid.

What a transfer looks like

Four steps, most of them on the side of your current registrar. We handle the part that touches the registry.

01

Unlock the domain

In the panel of your current registrar, switch off the transfer lock and make sure the admin email is one you can read.

02

Get the auth code

Also called EPP code or transfer secret. Registrars issue it on request, usually straight into the panel or by email.

03

Send it to us

We start the transfer at the registry and pay the fee, which includes a year of renewal for the name.

04

Confirm and wait

You approve the move by email. Registries release the name within five days, often the same day if the losing registrar accepts immediately.

Transfer prices

Each fee includes a full year added to the domain.

When a transfer will not go through

ICANN blocks transfers for sixty days after registration and after any change of registrant. There is no way around it, so the only option is to wait out the window.

An expired domain has to be renewed with the current registrar first, and only then transferred. If it has entered redemption, the registry restore fee applies before anything else can happen.

Confirmation goes to the administrative contact in WHOIS. If that mailbox no longer exists, update the contact with the current registrar before starting, otherwise the request expires unanswered.

Some country registries, .de among them, use their own procedure instead of an EPP code. We know the routine for each of the extensions we sell and tell you what the registry expects.

Send the domain you want to move

Tell us the name and the current registrar. We check the state of the domain and reply with the exact steps for that extension.
