The policy covers apply.domains and every form on it: the request form, the domain search and support correspondence. By sending a form you accept the handling described here.
Who processes the data
The controller is Apply, the operator of apply.domains. Questions about this policy and requests concerning your data go to privacy@apply.domains.
What we collect
- Contact details - name, email address, phone number and company name.
- Request content - the domain you asked about, the chosen subject and the text of the message.
- Registrant details - the postal address and contacts a registry requires for the domain record, collected only when you order a registration or a transfer.
- Technical data - IP address, browser and device type, the pages you opened and the names you searched for.
We never ask for passwords in a form on this site. An authorisation code for a transfer is a one time secret for a single domain, not a password, and it stops working the moment the transfer completes.
Why we process it
- To answer a request, confirm availability and quote a price.
- To register, renew or transfer a domain on your behalf.
- To meet the requirements of registries and of ICANN, which oblige a registrar to hold accurate registrant data.
- To send expiry reminders for names you hold through us.
- To keep the site working and to understand which pages are useful.
What goes to a registry
To create a domain record, a registry needs the registrant name and contact details. This is a condition of registration and not something we can opt out of on your behalf. What happens next depends on the extension.
| Data | Where it goes | Published in WHOIS |
|---|---|---|
| Registrant name and address | Registry of the extension | Hidden by privacy where the registry allows it |
| Administrative email | Registry of the extension | Usually replaced with a forwarding address |
| Local presence documents | Registry, for country extensions that require them | Never published |
| Payment details | Payment provider only | Never published |
Cookies and analytics
The site sets a session cookie needed for forms to work and stores your theme choice locally in the browser. Analytics, when enabled, records page views and search queries in aggregate. Declining cookies through the banner keeps the site fully usable.
How long we keep it
Request data is kept for three years from the last contact. Registrant data for an active domain is kept for as long as the domain is sponsored by us and afterwards for the period registries and ICANN require, which is normally two years. Technical logs are rotated within ninety days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or have it deleted where no registry rule requires us to keep it. Write to privacy@apply.domains and we answer within thirty days. Note that deleting registrant data for a live domain is not possible without transferring or deleting the domain itself.
Changes to this policy
When the policy changes we publish the new version on this page with a new date. Material changes affecting existing registrants are also sent by email.
